While I'm playing Magic with some friends and enjoying it more than I was several sessions ago, drop your best suggestions

Edit: Nevermind what I said, fuck Magic, I just got my ass beat cuz I forgot Instants could be played on my opponent's turn because what word was under the bottom left corner of the picture had literally never been important prior to this so I literally forgot it was there, would see it out of the corner of my eye and just not register it. How many games do I have to play before I start remembering the basic fucking rules? It doesn't help that we're running 99 card decks so it's not even like I can learn from my mistakes and then apply it right away, cuz I can play a handful of games and see very little of the same cards between them, I might as well be running a completely different deck with a completely different win condition every single game, so by the time I end up in the same situation again I gotta pull up something I shoved in the vault weeks prior. From what I could find, Commander is considered a casual-friendly format but not a BEGINNER-friendly one, so I can't figure out for the life of me why my friends are insisting I play it when I've already explained to them multiple times that I'm not one of those people you can teach how to swim by just shoving them in the deep end and expecting them to figure it out, that's pretty much the equivalent of how I'm being taught Magic and it's pissing me off
