Nyx had transformed Diane into one of the Keres, bloodthirsty daughters of the Dark Goddess. As a fierce, winged death-spirit, she hurled herself at the three players that she had lured into battle with the vampire Fanglord and his minions. The adventurers had all but beaten the vampire’s party when Diane entered the fray, but she snatched victory from their grasp. Yet she defeated the three players not by slaughtering them, as her instincts impelled her to do, but by corrupting them with the dark essence of Nyx. Now that the players were aligned with the Night, Fanglord convinced them to accept a temporary truce and work together. As Diane struggled to adjust to this unexpected turn of events, she faced an even more surprising development; the players decided that one of them would claim her as a familiar, a glorified pet!
