My Hero Academia 8x09 "Epilogue, The Hellish Todoroki Family: Final" - reaction & review

Hey everyone!!! AND WE'RE BACK with season 8, episode 9 of My Hero Academia!!!! OMG!!! What an epilogue - the moments with Bakugo, Izuku and All Might; seeing Class 1-A all together again; the moment with the Todoroki family....!!!! OMG, to think that they might actually be able to mend some of those fences (not all of them, but still) is wild! And whoa, no no. 1 hero, and no quirk for Izuku....the future is definitely in flux, but hopeful!!! Great ep!! Enjoy! ~ MH

Aww I heard about that, wasn't that sweet?! Oh yeah you're not far from WA are you! You're so lucky to have some lively news personalities :) That's so true, the reconstruction here was more than just reconstruction! OMG stop, Sukuna is the same VA as Aizawa isn't he!! Hahah yup, it's just not something Bakugo or I are capable of! HAHAHA that's the best way to describe Mineta! Omg I know, Izuku is so smart except when he's not :P They've done such a good job with the complexities of the Todoroki family dynamic! They're gonna stomp on my emotions, no poking or prodding here, that would be way too easy on me :(((

I meant to share this a couple weeks ago but I keep forgetting about it - IRL, there was a young girl who had a rather unique birthmark on one side of her face. Through certain channels, her appearance became public - Crunchyroll saw her picture and did this: they “gifted” her all of the different Shoto Todoroki merch (figures, plushies, etc.) they had in their store. When she received it, she was very excited: “Mom, he looks just like me!” Anyway, on the episode itself - I don’t live in WA, but it’s my neighbor and I’ve been there many times. Quirky broadcasters aren’t unusual in our part of the country. I think it’s reiterating something during the reconstruction phase of this episode that’s a code value - generally people will help other people, or try to, when they really need it. Look at the different times people in the US were made aware of a disaster in one area and step up to help. Of course this might be a reflection of that tsunami situation Japan dealt with a few years ago but the point still stands. When you think about Aizawa having the same VA as Sukuna it’s still rather mind boggling. 😅 Bakugo being told to take it easy is like saying to you, “don’t get attached to fictional characters.” It’s not going to work. 😅 I think he’s more upset that Izuku can no longer compete with him, he enjoyed the competition aspect although he’d die before admitting it. It figures that the cutest girl in class could never be seen. But considering Mineta is a walking restraining order waiting to happen that’s probably a good thing. Meanwhile Deku STILL hasn’t picked up on Ochaco’s vibe? To be fair, he’s had a lot on his plate, but still…. 👀 I’ve mentioned this before but I do think the Todoroki family dynamic might be one of the most complicated I’ve seen written out in fiction - but I do like that the author isn’t trying to take shortcuts or dodge the elephants in the room. Especially with Endeavor - since this is pretty much all his fault, and he knows it. You aren’t supposed to forgive his actions or his mistakes, because he doesn’t himself. He WAS a horrible person to his family, and yet, you have to kind of respect the fact that he’s genuinely trying to repair what little he can. Also, this is probably pretty obvious but file the whole thing under “how not to parent 101” lol. I think that’s enough for now on that - but you know they’re gonna poke and prod your emotions all the way to the end of the show, right?

This might be one of my favorite episodes. Seeing just how far Bakugo and Endeavor have come is amazing. I can say with absolute certainty now that we’re basically at the end that Endeavor is my favorite character. Everything with him and the family was handled so well.
