How to Train Your Dragon (full/syncable) Movie Reaction

Hey everyone! I'm here reacting to HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON!!!! WOW, that was so good! I didn't remember much of it at all and I was really impressed at how good it was in telling a fun, complete story while still leaving lots of room for sequels (which I'm watching next!!). Toothless is so stinkin cute! My dog really enjoyed this one too haha! Hope you enjoy! ~ Melissa

No worries, yikes, that's a long trip! OHHH I love Lilo and Stitch, no wonder I liked this so much! Yeah it's not reinventing the wheel but it does all the tropes so well. Oh yeah I think I put that together later about the tail, whoops. Toothless knows a lot of games, wow! Aww Toothless is so protective of Hiccup, I love it! Yeah way to illustrate how magical flying is! That's actually such a beautiful way to put it - they had both made sacrifices but came out stronger together. It's really impressive that word of mouth worked so well for this movie! The score is SO good! Haha I probably caught most of the gags upon editing, I had my own Toothless to deal with during the reaction :P I'd heard that Toothless was based on a cat!! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!!! HAHAHAH nooooo that's way too punny!!!

Hi there! I would’ve watched this on opening day but work got busy and I ended up on a five hour round trip at the end of the night. 😅 This is probably my FAVORITE American based animated feature - and that’s an extensive list. There are indeed three of these films, and yes you should keep going. Sidebar: if you are familiar with the Disney film, Lilo and Stitch, the original animated from 2002, this was made by the same creator - which… might explain why the facial designs of Toothless and Stitch look fairly similar. There’s nothing too original in this plot line - it’s full of tropes, outcast kid who becomes the hero, two sides who misunderstand each other, down on his luck guy ends up with the village sweetheart who’s tough as nails, the family fallout turning into a reconciliation- you get the picture. The execution of the tropes, however, is first class. To point out a couple of things: when Hiccup fires the cannon at Toothless before he meets him in the first scene, when the Vikings are all fighting the dragons and he gets knocked back by the recoil, that’s what took the tail off Toothless. Toothless drawing on the ground was the old kids game and he was telling Hiccup “get out of that without stepping on a line.” “You step on a crack you break your mother’s back,” or something along those lines. When he’s trying to stretch out his face, he sees hiccup grinning sheepishly and he is trying to emulate the smile out of curiosity. Also when Toothless goes ballistic on Astrid at the first part of their ride he is basically bullying her, until she apologizes to Hiccup and then he flies calmly. Some airline pilots saw the flight scene in this movie and how well it was filmed, and said “that’s why we fly planes.” What I do appreciate about the ending scene is there’s not just poetic irony in the fact that both Toothless and Hiccup lose parts of themselves, but they’re stronger together - but also there’s the trope that anime likes to use here where not every victory is neat and clean and tidy - war ends up costing you, even if you win. It’s funny, I remember putting this film together back in my last job as a theater projectionist before everything switched to digital - it took off but unlike the latest Disney hit it was grown in popularity by people who saw it over about a month’s period and then told their friends to go see it. Also, the BGM/OST is one of my favorite instrumental soundtracks, I’d recommend next time you watch it paying more attention to it, John Powell’s score is very spot on for all of the scenes. (You might want to look at the training montage again, I feel like you missed a decent amount of the gags since Buffy was distracting you - especially using the pen light on the dragon.) by the way the dragon might act like a dog, but I feel like it might have some more cat like mannerisms in how it reacts. Toothless mostly talks with his eyes, you can’t really hear him but you can tell what he’s “saying.” In short when you put this one in the batch, I immediately knew you were going to adore it. The others are good, too, but when a new story just “clicks” the way it intends to, it’s something special. And the budget only cost an arm and a leg. 🤭

Oh that's awesome! I've heard a lot about the live action one! I hope the subs help, they always help me too!

I always like this movie as a kid! I also able to find some time to watch it in the theater as a live action too! They both good in its way, so I say that you could try them both if you free. Watch with subtitle here might help me understanding it more since they dub it with serious emotional sync that sometime I couldn't understand their words.
