Alexxa Reacts to Star Trek: The Next Generation | S1:E4 - Code of Honor | Lieutenant Yar Has Been Abducted! | Full, Watch-Along Reaction

Hi fam!

We are back with Star Trek: The Next Generation! Today's episode is titled Code of Honor. What a fun episode! In this one, we arrive at a planet similar to Earth that has a vaccine needed by Starfleet. Unfortunately, things take a turn when the leader of the planet abducts Lieutenant Yar. This all ends up leading to a duel to the death! What an episode!

Let me know what you guys think!

Xoxo,

Alexxa

Only warp 3 to get to the planet with people dying. Always seemed weird to me!

This story is not looked upon favourably by the TNG cast (nor much of fandom, either!) as the casting choice for the Ligonian people is potentially problematic. Nonetheless, my issue with this story is that it's just not terribly exciting. Following on from the fast-moving, suspenseful, and funny "Naked Now", we get a ponderous moralising story; with various characters going on and on about honour and the Prime Directive. Fine, for one scene - but not for 40 minutes or so. That being said, Patrick Stewart is excellent as usual; and gives more weight to his lines than they probably warranted. You genuinely feel for him and his moral predicament. The Wesley storyline is developed a little further; we get another glimpse of the Holodeck in action; the scenes with Data and Geordi are genuinely funny; and it's the first 'crewmember centric' episode, with Yar being at the centre of the plot. She's an interesting, slightly enigmatic, character; and having had all the best scenes in the previous story her character now gets given some dramatic and physical stuff to perform. I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you thought this was story fun....my goodness, you have some REAL treats in store! :)

I usually skip this episode in my rewatches as in my opinion it is the worst TNG episode for a number of reasons but will definitely watch your reaction. I never skip any other episode. Can't wait to see your reaction but sadly will be tomorrow now as its late here in the UK.

I haven’t watched yet but the cast to this day mocks this episode mercilessly for being so racist. The best thing is yet to come!
