this mod adds:

• a “cry” interaction to the sim’s main menu and the shower, with a custom animation.

• reactions from nearby sims to a crying sim.

• comfort interactions after crying.

upd. nov. 6, 2025: small fix after the latest patch.
upd. oct. 31, 2025: action also added to wall showers.

during crying, the sim gets the following moodlet:

here are two animation styles based on the sim's gender. you can switch between them using my other mod!

after the action ends, the sim will randomly receive either a sad or a happy buff.
sims with the gloomy trait are more likely to get the sad buff.
sims with the cheerful trait are more likely to get the happy one.

if there are nearby sims who have a friendly relationship with the crying sim, they will react with a random sad in-game animation and receive the following buff:

after the crying ends, the sim can ask any sim for comfort.
a sim who witnesses the crying can also comfort them.
a fitting in-game animation will play.

after this interaction, both sims will lose the sad moodlets from my mod and get new happy ones. there’s also a chance of gaining a close sentiment.

this version also adds the option to cry in the shower.

differences from the regular action:

• it’s only available when the sim feels negative emotions: sadness, stress, embarrassment, fear, or discomfort.

• hygiene increases during the action.

other outcomes:

• duration of negative emotion buffs decreases.

• for teens, emotional control skill increases (gp “parenthood”).

• if the sim is in grief, positive coping increases (ep “life and death”).

autonomy:

if a sim has sad buffs, they can cry autonomously between 7 pm and 4 am.
