(big update!) relaxed tv watching animations override

the animations are different for men and women.
big update aug. 30, 2025:
added transitions to the interaction! (sometimes the transition may glitch, but very rarely)
if your sim doesn’t know they’re pregnant yet, they will use custom animations. only after the game notifies you that the sim is expecting a baby, the animation will switch to the default one.
now works with the add-on that lets you change animation type for each sim individually.
facial expressions should look a bit better now.
custom animations will apply if:
the sim is sitting on a sofa or living chair;
the sim is a teen to elder;
the sim is watching tv channels (not movies);
the sim is not watching the new year’s eve special channel. those animations stay the same to match the countdown.
the sim is not pregnant.
only the in-game tv channels will use the new animation. if you have mods with custom channels, their animations will remain default.
known issues:
if your sim is already watching tv and you change the channel, they might freeze in the sitting position. if that happens, just have them stand up and sit again to play the new animation.
compatibility:
not compatible with "Arnie_Plumfruit_Essentials_1.2_PlumfruitSmartTV+TUNING" from arnie’s plumfruit essentials mod.

2025-09-19 23:19:38 +0000 UTCHi, I thought I’d let you know that there seems to be a conflict with WW or Chingyu SmarterSelfCare (most likely the latter). Whenever my female sim takes a shower and puts on a towel, then I use WW afterward, the towel never gets removed, even after clicking "Undress Completely." Here are the steps I followed: Take a shower for a female sim -> Automatically puts on a towel -> Use WW animation anywhere -> Towel sticks to the female sim during the animation and cannot be removed.

2025-08-30 21:05:55 +0000 UTCyou can try checking these things: 1. make sure the mod file is actually in your mods folder 2. check if you are using regular tv channels and not expecting the override when sims watch movies 3. see if the sim watching tv is pregnant 4. try clearing the game cache - sometimes it helps the override show up

One of the items the sims had to complete is watch tv together. Oshin brought up the idea it would be so wonderful if a modder could make a Winterfest Movie Channel for our Sims to Watch. I don't know if this is something you could do or you could collab with but I love your mods, Utopya and other. You all make the most wonderful gameplay for our sims and I appreciate it so much. Anyway thank you for your time and even consideration. This is not my idea, just a drop for Oshinsims, I love her YT channel she is a wonderful simmer.

2024-12-12 16:11:46 +0000 UTChi! i’m sorry to hear that it’s not working for you. i’m really not sure what could be causing the issue. it’s definitely not conflicting with “seat any sim” or “sit on the floor,” since i use those mods myself and it works fine on my end. it’s possible that it might conflict with mods that somehow change tv channels. however, it shouldn’t conflict with simple video or channel name overrides, since my sims watch “south park” all day long without any problems. i once had a situation where one of my overrides stopped working, but it recovered immediately after i cleared my cache. maybe try clearing the cache and see if that helps, if you haven't done it yet. i will think about this problem more

I've tried everything (tried different ways to start sitting/watching, using living room chairs instead, switching out cc couches and TVs, etc.) and nothing seems to work, so I'm trying to think of mods that may conflict. Do you happen to know if maybe the mods "Seat Any Sim" or "Sit on the Floor" conflict?

I love how my sims look when they read but it has me yearning for them to have that same kind of look when they are just sitting if that makes sense...I will literally pay you extra for it.
