I love how Ernst at the end considers the returning of 86 alive as the last chance he is giving humanity. He is like, "Return alive to prove that humans didn't just send people to their death to save their own hides. If you do die, that means our children has decided to kill children to save itself, and I don't condone the existence of such a country." I fully believe he'll nuke his own country, taking everyone down along with him. Also, I wouldn't call the people of the federacy that you call racists as actually racists, because the way they treat the 86 the way they do has nothing to do with their race, and all because of their mannerisms that they find unnerving, especially Shin. And maybe even jealousy. But not race, cuz the 86 belong to different races that are also common in the Federacy's general population. The shit they faced in the Republic of San Magnolia was indeed racism. I would call the guys treating the 86 bad in the Federacy as just Assholes. From what I understand, the way they were treated in the Republic was a reflection how racism factors in the different sides of wars, and their treatment in the Federacy reflects how Veterans are treated in their own country after returning home from wars. Also, the best thing about the Federacy is that many of the people with actual power are good natured. I mean, Ernst is THE highest ranking person here. The only reason the Assholes can get the tiniest bit of their way this time is because it cannot be denied that sending the top tier squadron with all the 86 in them (which also has Federacy soldiers who will be going along them, I must add) to kill the Morpho is the most viable plan, and the 86 agree. If the 86 had protested to the plan the tiniest bit, Grethe Wenzel and Ernst could and would have put an end to the plan.
