New Mod Release: Weather Report
Added 2022-05-05 02:56:27 +0000 UTCLife in the Commonwealth is tough enough. But sometimes you just want to know if the weather outside is dangerous without actually going out into it.
You know how it is. You'll be hanging out in your bunker, you just got a decent night's sleep, and you have no idea if there's a radstorm going on outside. Your only choice usually is to just go out and hope for the best, which may not be the best option if you're badly hurt and already looking a little ghoulish around the ears.
Weather Report changes that, by adding a "Weather Checker" device to your AID menu. Use it while travelling outdoors, and it will return the general type of weather currently in operation (clear, foggy, rain, snow/radstorm).
Things get more interesting, however, when you use the Weather Checker indoors. It will generate a weather forecast, randomly selecting a new weather type and remembering it, starting an MCM-adjustable timer delay of several in-game hours. If you then go back outside during that delay period, a weather of that type will be selected and enabled from the local climate.
Likewise, when you enter an indoors area from the outdoors, the delay timer will also be set (assuming it isn't already), preserving the outside weather and using it if you leave again during the cooldown phase. If the weather was clear before you entered your bunker, for example, it will remain clear outside for an adjustable period of time before changing again.
Basically, this mod gives you the weather equivalent of SchrΓΆdinger's cat. When you are indoors, the weather outdoors is in an undetermined state, taking a specific form only when you go outside. If you look in the Weather Checker box, however, you may get good weather, or you may get a radstorm, and you'll be stuck with what you get for a few in-game hours until it clears.
Odds of each weather type (in either day or night) and the delay duration can be set in MCM.
