Another Status Update & Future Plans
Added 2023-10-06 22:49:12 +0000 UTCI realize just now that I posted the artist callout yesterday without actually giving an update about what's going on and where PoR currently stands after the release and concerns about sales.
Oops.
So here it is! And it's good news! YAY!
Sales wise, Particles of Reality is catching up to where I hoped to be! I was quite nervous and anxious about the situation on release, but the sales have been steady and I will definitely hit the break-even point possibly by the end of October, certainly by the end of the year!
I was able to get info from Steam about the age verification issues with reviews and I provided the game to a couple of otome streamers, and that was a ton of fun! I even participated and answered Q's during the streams. Here's a VOD of one of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OK7NUbzM_nM
Two otome curators on Steam have been given access the game and I'm hoping to see those reviews go out later this month. It is a long game!
Word is getting around about the game. It's just taking a bit of time.
And even better news, Particles of Reality has great reviews on Steam!! I'm so happy and thank you to everyone who reviewed. The one negative review is the game is "too dark". ..... Honestly, that's the best negative review I could have hoped for!! :D
So, that means:
Alexander's route is a go!
Particles of Reality: Remembrance is a go!
As mentioned in the previous post, I'm looking for artists for Remembrance. I've made a recruitment post, feel free to share it to anyone you know.
I'm looking for CG artists, a sprite artist, male voice actors, and maybe a proofreader.
The voice actors is not currently a guarentee! It's something I'm looking into, to see if I can fit it in the development budget. But it was a common request and it'd be a cool thing to do and a new experience for me. The entire game will not be voiced, I'm confident of that, but I think I can probably do some degree of voice additions.
So even though I'm still mostly on hiatus, a lot of admin and planning is going on in the background to prepare for the future!
I will be posting later this month:
- A retrospective on Obsession. Pros, cons, things I'd do differently, lessons learned, etc.
- A plan and roadmap for Remembrance. I've made some high level admin decisions about how to approach this development differently than Obsession as all of this other stuff has been going on and I'll discuss what can be expected over 2024-2025.
In November, we're going to hit the ground running with Alexander. I have done some writing, so there will be content to play by the end of November.
(Note you must already own Obsession to play Alexander, the base game will not be made available.)
Thanks all for your support and patience! I am super happy and this has been (while nerve-racking) an awesome experience!
