Patron-Exclusive Vote: Little Movies that Could

For January, we're going to look at a "Little Movie That Could." An indy film that broke through and had great success, and in some cases launched careers.

We're trying a different voting style: ranked voting. You rank the movies by dragging and dropping the movies into the order you would most prefer. πŸ—³Follow this link to voteπŸ—³

The goal is to relieve the pressure of "I really want to vote for X, but I know it won't win, so I'll vote for Y." With this system, go ahead and put X first!

Behind the scenes, the vote is conducted in "rounds." From the website:

How do "rounds" work?
A "round" is the process of determining if there's a ranked-choice winner, and, if not, eliminating the lowest vote getters.
In Round 1, all first-choice votes are added up. If no choice gets a majority in Round 1, then the lowest vote getter is eliminated. Anyone who voted for the eliminated choice has their vote count for their next ranked choice in the following round. This continues for as many rounds as are needed to determine a winner.

Look forward to seeing what you'll choose!

Just want to hijack this poll to ask you to make more episodes about tv pilots. You done a few, but I hope you could a few more about fresh and on-going shows. Like House of the Dragon and The Last of Us.

Yay off-site, ranked-choice voting! Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion!

I’m excited about this new voting method!

I'm not feeling hopeful on My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but I just gotta say how much that movie surprised and delighted me. It's hyperbolic and cheesy yet relatable and warm. It's very progressive compared to other rom coms (if you want call it one) and the usual tropes that were common for the genre at the time. Definitely recommend it for anyone who hasn't seen it.

I really like this voting method update, it'll be interesting to see how it pans out

+1 for ranked voting! I've been meaning to give Napoleon Dynamite a rewatch, hopefully everyone else agrees and Votes for Pedro.

I hope Garden State wins this one. It's probably the most influential movie in my life. It totally changed my taste in music, and got me into movies in a way I hadn't been before. It really helps that it came out when I was just finishing up college and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I've watched it more recently, and don't connect with it nearly the same way I did at the time.
