029 - Racket Strings Setup

In this tutorial we'll tackle the Vellum resampling setup. We'll talk through setting up the scene, the vellum setup and finally we'll talk through setting up some velocities to give us a nice shape.

Using the pointvelocity-node to add noise to an incoming velocity is super clever, I did not even know, that this is an option! Great tutorial as usual!!

Hi Manish, I've been using Redshift for several years, so I am definitely more comfortable in it, however, for the renders I do, Karma is DEFINITELY capable of doing exactly the same thing. I tend to use Redshift because the studios I freelance at all still use Redshift and not Karma. But, other than the initial hurdle of learning the ins and outs of karma, it is a very power render engine. I'd say watch a few tutorials on Karma and once you get the basics of it, it's basically the same thing. Create lights, create materials, adjust and iterate :)

Hi Paul. I have recently joined your Patron and learning a lot. I am using Houdini 20 and i am a complete novice to 3d and vfx and Houdini is my 1st ever tool. All of your render set ups are in redshift and i want to use Karma XPU just bec its free :). How easy/hard do you think it is to translate what you are doing in RS to Karma XPU?? Do you have any tips for novices like me who have just started with Houdini and Karma? What are your thoughts on the two render engines? I would love to get your view on the latest Karma XPU release. Thanks for all your hard work as always.
