RWBY Volume 9 Chapter 7 Reaction

Comments

wanted to say thanks to you both for such amazing RWBY content. have been watching you both on YouTube for years and i can finally afford to sub to my favorites on patreon now so im glad i can be here and show extra support now. you both are amazing, keep up the awesome work :) but yeah as far as ruby's snap its been well over due. something Ive noticed as the series has progressed over the years that the intro perfectly depicts is how at the beginning WBY were all riddles with problems and issue and have become more and more confident over time while its been the exact opposite for R, R started off bright eyed and full of hope and has slowly been sinking farther and farther. i have a feeling that shes going to take up her moms weapon she saw at the blacksmiths and leave crescent rose behind, i think shes going to have a realization and that by leaving crescent rose behind shes leaving her old vulnerable self behind. and if this happens and Summers weapon is actually in the ever after it means her mom was actually there at one point or may still actually be there. not sure how but its possible that maybe there is another place or way in remnant to fall through the world and maybe Salem thought she killed summer by said means. anything is possible at this point.

The visible discomfort on Kelly’s face during That Scene. I felt that.

Content warning for distressing themes, you just know its going to be bad. We were all expecting it but not quite like this. At least we got to see that blake and yang level-upped their team fighting after completing their romance side quest (by the end of the show they will probably end up as an impossibly powerful couple) while weiss struggles having to fight solo and ruby decides to go on a solo quest with a massive mental debuff. Before she got crescent rose back I was really thinking that ruby really should have had done more hand to hand training and she could have been useful but now its obvious even if she was a yang level brawler it wouldn't have helped. In v4 yang was kind of like this and it took most of the volume for her to get back to some semblance of normality

Artificial Wench

Lindsay and Miles did a phenomenal job in this episode!!! I hated seeing Ruby like that but its has been a long long time coming... Ruby needed this low. Right now she isn't just a broken huntress...she is a broken child... her childlike spark has died out... and she has to learn that she doesn't have to be a leader all the time she can be strong while depending on her family(all of them not just Yang).

Costia Rose

The worst part about all of this is that it basically cements that Ruby feels alone while being surrounded by her friends and family. She feels like no one actually cares about her. And while it doesn't help that she can't or doesn't want to reach out for help, it does literally suck that it takes her getting confrontational with everyone before they really notice something's wrong. All of the others reactions are valid but so is Ruby's. Also these poor kids are blaming eachother or themselves for things that they had no real control over. It wasn't Ruby's fault that Neo wants her dead to the point of putting innocents in harms way, it's not Ruby's fault Cinder came in and ruined everything in their save Atlas plan, just like it wasn't Jaune's fault for what he had to do to Penny or being unable to save Pyrrha because of Cinder. These kids are not at fault for the actions of adults that wish them harm, and it sucks that they feel like they are.

Sunset

I love how Lindsay performed that scene. You can hear her catching her breath after each sentence because she is not used to talking to people like that. And same with Miles, he is performing Jaune as an older confused man stuck in his adolescence. They performed against each other so well.

Ruby's reaction makes sense to me. When you're that far down into depression, people trying to cheer you up or "stay positive" begins to grate, and you can just... resent it. Because there are people still capable of feeling something you can't feel anymore. Blake trying to be positive instead of giving Ruby a chance to properly mourn and deal with her thoughts and feelings was just more of what she didn't want right then.

Sharknessa

I know people are gonna hate me for saying this. But this is my honest opinion. I will not defend Ruby for blowing up at everyone the way she did. Weiss, Blake, and Yang have been trying to support Ruby and show her that they care about her. But Ruby just keeps pushing them away, it isn't everyone else's fault that Ruby refuses to ask for help. Also Yang literally was willing to sacrifice herself at the end of volume 8 to save Ruby, and Ruby had the audacity to act like no one cares about her.
