Weekly Update Post (9/12/25)

Hey everyone, it's been 2 weeks but I'm back with another weekly update post with progress to share with you all. There wasn't a post last week but that was because I was sorting out some stuff IRL and decided I'd use the chance to take a week break, meaning there wasn't anything to update you all on. This week however, I've made good progress on the Christmas update which I'm excited to share with you all.

Christmas Update

As said before, the characters featuring in Z2HH's first Christmas update are Harlu, Nyssa, Celestia, Freya and Selene. I'm going to have the scene formats similar to the Halloween event with separate threesome scenes and you guys voted for Celestia x Nyssa & Selene x Freya as the two different pairings. I'm just about to finish animating & writing the Selene x Freya scene and if I say so myself, I think I've done a pretty good job on it.

Other Content

With this new update comes quite a big change potentially and that's changing the game screen size to 1600x900. Whilst this won't affect the game at all and will instead add black bars to the side to accommodate the extra screen size, it means H scenes will be bigger and not scaled down to fit RPGmaker's default resolution. I haven't done too much testing yet and will need to go back and edit all the scenes in the game right now to remove the video scaling parts (which is going to be a bitch to do), but hopefully it will improve video quality.

Additionally, I'm going to trial adding achievements to the game, small hidden things that you can do/collect which can then have an affect on gameplay or a reward of sorts to collect later. Whilst this is an early concept right and and collecting such an achievement will just trigger a switch/variable right now, it's creating groundwork for something more complete in the future. For example, this event you can get an achievement from interacting with a snowman a couple of times which triggers some conversational dialogue between yourself and Harlu. If anyone has any ideas about potential rewards for reaching milestones after getting a certain amount of achievements, like every 5 or 10 achievements found, let me know in the comments. Also thought about having different categories, like an exploration category or a combat category which all have their own rewards. As you can see it's early groundwork right now, but something I plan on expanding in the future.

Next Patches

As I've said for a while now, I have quite a lot of Adventure Guild content coming up and whilst that is still true, I'm going to focus on this Christmas update first to make sure it's out soon enough. As for the Adventurer's Guild, I've so far got 5 quests done, including a character focused quest involving Ellin the receptionist, I plan to make a couple more and also finish animating a scene involving Ellin from that quest but I've also finished animating a scene for Vaela. This means that following this Christmas update, the next patch should be pretty big as it's also going to contain Qingyan's long promised companion quest. Basically what I'm trying to say is that for the next month or two, I'm going to be making/releasing content more at the speed I was on release for this game. For those of you newer here, that means quite a lot.

Higher tier rewards

Once again a huge thanks to all of you who have signed up to the Super Supporter tier for the Patreon. You help's going a long way in my goal of being able to focus on this project full time. As for the rewards, I haven't figured out all of the logistics of setting up a place to collect details for npc designs and the like, but I'll be using dms to find out what you'd like your NPC to look like. Additionally, since there are no new characters being released this update, I won't be asking this yet, however in the future, I'll open a group dm or an exclusive post for you to provide some name ideas for a new character and then submit said ideas to a poll to see what everyone else agrees on. Of course there will be some stipulations to this, for example I'm not going to use your name if you just say Adolf or something. Finally, for the character scene rework polls, since I still haven't got around to the Bat scene rework which was voted on before this new tier was created, that will have to wait until at least 2 more patches. I'll also probably deal with that in a similar way to the new character names where I'll take your ideas and put them in a poll for everyone else to vote on as well.

Personal

Like I said in the intro and the last weekly update, I was sorting out some IRL stuff this week, but thats all sorted out now so progress should be back on track now. In terms of a music artist I'd recommend, which I might try to do each week now because why not, I'd like to shoutout Way Dynamic. They're an Australian band who opened for MJ lenderman and then released an album a few months ago which is a pretty good listen. Favourite track is People Settle Down and in terms of genre, their spotify bio calls it "minimalist folk-pop, baroque pop and art rock." I'll be honest with you all, I don't really know what that means, but they're fun to listen to anyway. In terms of sports, Villa's last minute winner against Arsenal at the weekend was absolutely soul crushing, but going into this game I would honestly have settled for a point, going off of both Villa's current form as well as our record against them and Emery this past few years, particularly away. As for NFL, although I watch casually, it's pretty fun to see the Chiefs might not make playoffs and the wildcard spots in general look pretty contested which will be cool to watch the last few weeks of the regular season.

Final Notes

Overall, one big weekly update post which should hopefully make up for the lack of one last week. Thanks as always to all of you guys supporting me and as you can see from the post image, I've dropped one of the outfits for the new patch for you all to see. As for a release date, I don't want to give myself too soon or late of a deadline, so I won't say for now. However I want to make sure it's released in time for Christmas, so expect more news on that next week.
