Surprise #1: R's Cat Inspo and a Teaser 🐈🖤

Meeting R's cat in Book Two is a fun moment for many readers, so I wanted to share two pictures of my own cat who helped to inspire this one. There is more to Nox! You'll be learning how R acquired their feline friend, how Ms. Verner truly views him, why Nox tends to stare after/at your MC, especially if you managed to impress him, and something a little bittersweet. 👀

The first picture features my cat trying to 'help' (he is!) with a puzzle by lying in the center of it. To be fair, he could think it's his puzzle if you look at the box in the background. The second shows a rivalry, one that's partly responsible for the smudges on the glass from my cat's paw batting out. It might be hard to spot the green lizard, but he's there. If you peer at the corner of the window grid/interior trim.

He is called Midnight rather than Nox. (Only TFS patrons know Nox's name at this point. 😌)

Reese and Becca

While you're not technically being addressed, you heard the softer approach Reese took at the start, curbing his playfulness once you were brought up and Becca expressed uncertainty. You decide to let the conversation play out between them. You'll be driving Reese to Rosie's mechanic shop later on.

"Sure, go for it," Becca replies. "You can ask me something."

"Can cats eat cantaloupe?" As soon as the fruit name leaves Reese, a petulant mrow comes through the speaker. "Or rather: should they? I know your love of animals might be useful."

Ruby and Beckett
