Monster Girl Farmer v0.25.05 released!
Added 2022-08-23 05:21:51 +0000 UTCHello all! I made a new minor release of Monster Girl Farmer yesterday. It's not a huge change, mostly some bug fixes and color-coded dialogue for the latest scenes. You can read more about it on the official changelog.
The next minor release shouldn't be too difficult or time consuming to implement, but it will be a big change. I'm sorely lacking terminology here, so bear with me. There are two types of monster girls in the game:
1) Monster girls you can have encounters (AKA battles) with. At the moment, this is the same thing as saying monster girls from the main quest line. They are discovered by main quest events or exploring specific locations. Enoki is an example of one of these types. You find her by exploring the "A Rotten Tree" landmark.
2) Monster girls you can't have encounters with. At the moment, this is the same thing as saying side quest monster girls. These are discovered at random by exploring or sleeping. Rebecca, the mimic girl, is an example of one of these types. Exploring anywhere in the forest gives you a small chance of encountering her.
Instead of finding 2) anywhere by pure chance, they will show up in specific location(s). Similar to how you can only find Enoki by, "A Rotten Tree," you'll only be able to find Rebecca at a specific landmark. This has some major ramifications, all positive:
- Discovering the monster girls from 2) will have higher odds. Less grinding!
- This allows more quest complexity. For example, lay a trap at the primeval forest and come back in two days. Even something that simple isn't possible right now because odds are you won't.
- From now on, the question, "How do I meet X," will have a better answer than, "Luck."
- The scenes for 2) can now mention specific landmark details. Hopefully it's not obvious, but these scenes mention the environment in the vague ways. They may refer to trees without going into detail about what the trees look like. This had to be done because the scene could occur in any location. In the next version, the scenes will only be in specific locations, so the writing will improve in that sense.
