Look at me, forgetting to post again :P
This month has been crazy - Lots going on. My girlfriend moved in with me, I'm trying to start the process of buying a small house, we're open for business at the office, and I had some personal drama to deal with.
WITH THAT SAID
This cover is without a doubt the video I am most proud of that I have ever made.
I think many of my more insightful fans can tell when I do a cover that I care about, and this is no exception. The past few months has been a blur of recording lots of covers for the sake of meeting the weekly deadlines, and often it's difficult to stay energetic and excited about my channel when many of the songs I'm covering recently are songs that I don't have a personal attachment to - Now, I've always been of the mindset that if you have the right approach and attitude, you can have fun and be passionate about any cover that you make, but this month I really needed this cover to refill my energy tank.
I tried using a new plugin called The Odin as a guitar synthesizer on this cover with excellent results. I've used virtual guitar synthesizers (VI's in Kontakt) in the past, especially when my wrist problems resurface (See Poor Unfortunate Souls, Trust in Me, Rains of Castamere, Your Love), but I always seemed to hit a stylistic brick wall of feeling justifiably limited by the software I was using - like the virtual instruments I've used as guitar replacements in the past were forcing me to steer in a certain direction with the arrangement, cover and riffs in order for the plugin to sound good. The Odin fixes many of those issues that I had, allowing me to focus on just making a badass cover.
I love how this one turned out and I couldn't be more proud.
As some of you may know, I've played 1200+ hours of Skyrim and it's my favorite game. I put off this cover for a very long time because I didn't feel ready to tackle it, but I'm glad I took the leap.
Enjoy,
JY
