The symbols and ideas of a ruined space can persist beyond their destruction. In their abandonment they can take on new meanings. Like fragments, they invite imagination to fill in what they once were.
The mundane can be transformed into the sacred, though so too can the sacred be profaned and altered.
These spaces and layers of meaning and alteration of symbols can exist in layers upon each other. The minotaur happens to enter this layer. The layer of this heart, instead of a layer of monsters or deprecation.
When the building was whole, the heart would never have appeared in this form. Only by the deterioration of the temple can it be seen. Only in it’s ruin can the virtues of it’s construction be observed.
Only by it’s abandonment can it be approached by the uninitiated.
