Cosmic Shore

Lion Gohma.

The shoreline and ocean being a place simultaneously very far away and embedded deep within the self. All the insight to be gained was done so in the waters, and among the stars, and the places where the stars and the waters became the same thing.

By the time one washes up on this shore one is like a dead thing. One's voyage is finished. Here the only way to continue is to become like the undead, to disregard and shed one's flesh and to walk into uncanny worlds.

This gohma, having reached the shore, finishes this journey by expending his sexual energies. His body will become like seafoam, he will be taken back into the ocean, where he will drift, then be returned near his point of origin. The spot where the journey began, where inner and outer space first diverged.

LOve the symbolism of crossing th esea then returning across it, like in Shakespeare's play "Pericles" (How's that for an obscure reference? ;) ) :)

Thanks Bao! I'm glad you liked the description, I've been trying to get better at articulating the ideas for illustrations and stories that I have.

Really love the sparkle in this and the clear exhaustion body language on the lion gohma. Magnificent text added to this too- it really reads like a myth one could find in history and i adore it.
