In the case of their feet, it allows them to walk delicately through natural areas without crushing the plants and other things. And with their mouths, it means they can also sing strange and ethereal notes.
Bugs exist in extremely important relationships to the rest of the natural world, and deserve to be regarded with respect equal to that importance, even the ones that are gross or terrifying.
