Holding a Scorpionflower.
I did the initial sketch for this piece back in 2011 (I think), and made several attempts at finishing it until doing so with this piece. I'll try and find the original sketch, unfortunately it's not in the place I thought it would be, and I've altered the initial composition so much that sketch left under the digital lines is unreadable.
One of the fun things about taking sketches and compositions I jotted down years ago is being able to add in new elements and alter others to get the picture to express something I never could have done at the time of making it. In this case, the abstract shapes manifesting from behind the gohma, the tattoos, and the addition of the scorpionflower.
As for the meaning behind the Scorpionflower, and the abstract shapes, etc, I have some ideas I'm working out with them, but I think they're a little too early for me to talk about without them losing their magic.
Typically I don't give the Lion Gohma wings, that's a leftover from before they were gohma (in this case as a spirit aligned with the subconscious) and they were more like messengers of the gods.
