48 Hours in Hiroshima | 8 Things to do in Japan's Legendary City

Hey guys,

So it’s been over 5 years since we were last in Hiroshima, a city that’s often regarded as a symbol of the darker side of humanity, but also as a beacon of hope for it’s impressive and incredible rebirth.

I really do love the place and I’m delighted to have 48 hours in the city to explore the city, stuff myself silly with as many Okonomiyaki pancakes as possible, and venture to the stunning island of Miyajima for a stay overnight with the most incredible views.

To accompany the video we’ve made a PDF itinerary which details the locations we visited in the video - hopefully this saves you some time if you want to make your own visit! It's attached to the end of this post. Here's a photo of part of it:

You'll find the FULL guide attached below!

Hope you enjoy the video guys and fear not - we have another big video coming out imminently!

Another great video Chris. I am sorry I took awhile to watch it. My mom and I have been to Hiroshima and to myajima and the deer there tried to eat out of her purse, safe to say she didn’t like the deer. But it was a great trip! The peace memorial and the museum were very emotional.

I love these kinds of videos. Like an old school 30 min travel channel TV show. The editing was amazing.

Impeccable timing, Chris. I'm visiting Japan for the first time this November and will be in Hiroshima on November 15th (though, sadly, only for the one day). I doubt I'll be able to see Itsukushima Shrine during my lone day there, but I will definitely check out the rest. Thanks!

Hiroshima has been on my list for a future trip. Really excited to come across this video today! Thanks Chris!

Great video! Nice to see a one off visit an area and here is the local stuff video!

Chris, ever think of doing a documentary specifically about traditional japanese architecture? I know you have a love for the 80s stuff but I always feel in your cinematography you have a good eye for pagodas, traditional homes, temples, etc.

The timing is great, heading back to Hiroshima to show friends in 2 weeks 😄

I don’t think I can work Hiroshima into our Oct/Nov trip… looks like such a cool place! Guess it’s time to start planning my 2025 trip already 😅

We had a go at making Hiroshima style okonomiyaki at home and the second attempt wasn’t too bad, the less said about the first attempt the better. I really enjoyed this video. We’re planning a trip to Japan next year and we’re going to use some of your ideas when we visit Hiroshima. We’re also going to swing by for a hike with Quinlan, so Hiroshima to Morioka will be our next journey through Japan.

As much as I loved this visit Hiroshima or the island both are worthy of longer pieces. With Hiroshima more interviews with locals. Maybe someone who moved back to the city as it rebuilt. Are there books you vould recommend about Hiroshima arising from the ashes. ?

Loved Hiroshima, was there last year the day before the G7 summit.

Looking forward to this one - been to Hiroshima a couple times and is always a standout place to visit. Obviously the peace museum & dome, but also food, parks, people, etc. Loved it there

see, I always knew Abroad in a Pan would work. So much fun to watch you take a whack at making those pancakes.

Love this style of filming and editing, really reels me in
