i initially wanted to record a walkthrough for Different today, but my computer cant handle it. so i figured i could just give you all the project file!

"convert drums to new midi track" will only convert the transients from the audio into midi signal in a midi track, not the sound itself. to do my drums in midi i use a sampler in a midi track, drag the sample i want to use into the sampler and then draw in the midi myself in the midi clip.

2022-07-21 20:11:52 +0000 UTCThanks for the file, really interesting to study. Can you share (or is there a previous video?) how you converted your snare samples so nicely to MIDI? When I naively do "Convert Drums to New MIDI track" it doesn't preserve the sound at all.
