Sprite Updates
Added 2020-12-28 16:00:00 +0000 UTCSo this week I did a little bit of sprite work, including updating some existing sprites. I decided to add a little bit of design work to one of Van's prosthetics. I had always intended them to have a design on them because I didn't want them to be the standard futuristic "robot arms" - there are some of those in the game, but I wanted Vans to look a little different.
And pretty. I revisited her sprite art and gave her arm some glowy designs because I think she just likes pretty things. OwO

I also revisited Lance's sprite and did a slight revamp of his hair. His old style seemed a little chunky and undetailed compared to some of the other sprites in the game. I think it's just because it was based on a really old artwork of him when the way I drew hair was a bit different. I stuck close to the old design and somehow it just wasn't looking right to me anymore. So I redid it and gave it a little more body. I think it looks a lot better now.
I kept much of the original shape (though it's now shorter in the back, hopefully making his MASSIVE HEAD seem a little smaller! LoL) but added a bit more curl to it. I also refined the "fade" from white to black a bit.

And...a new character!
He'll appear in Quill's route and is one of many cyborgs that live in the city of Nysa. He was in an accident that required multiple surgeries to reconstruct his body, leaving him over 60% cybernetic. In many places, cyborgs are not permitted, so he was forced to move away from his home. Quite distraught, he ended up in the city of Nysa. He changed his name to Lock to match the naming conventions in Nysa (the inhabitants there often forego traditional names and just pick words they like) and has been living there for around a year.
(I swear the shirtless version is just to show the extent of his arm cybernetics. LoL!

This is kind of a small change and I think I did it last week or the week before but...
On the subject of cybernetics...I removed Edan's. I really liked them as a design element for him. And I like the idea of a deaf character. But I'm going to save it for a future project. It's a fairly small change for him (but it did require his neck to be re-shaded).

So yeah! Just some tinkering with sprites and working on some new characters. Hope you enjoyed getting a look at some of the changes I've been doing here and there!
