Hi everyone!

Welcome to this week's devlog where I have very little to talk about other than being trapped in the endless cycle of death of and rebirth….I mean…...writing.

Which feels similar. Except with less rebirth and just lots of internally dying over and over.

I MEAN. IT WAS A GREAT WEEK. I LOVE WRITING.

LoL

Summary:

The Ramble:

So this week's ramble is…..I wrote. LoL. That's it.

Sometimes writing sucks.

Sometimes writing flows from brain to fingertips to computer screen like one of those chocolate fountains where it's all decadent and wonderfully artistic at the same time. And sometimes it's like pulling toenails off a very cranky dragon that is trying to chew your face off.

And the best you get for your effort is a lopsided, dirt covered potato.

So that was basically this route.

I think it's due to a lot of reasons, most of which are just outside my control. It's a rough year. It's stressful. There's a global pandemic and people I know are suffering, scared, and stressed out. I am stressed out.

I've been feeling upset and paranoid about both this route and character - and really the whole game. I've been second guessing my decisions, questioning if I should change things; then feeling frustrated because I don't think I should have to. And yet…

I've been worried Jack doesn't have enough screen time because of juggling the Rory vs No Rory thing. As well as Brenin deciding he needs more development in this route. And then constantly telling myself not to sweat it because I fix it during editing.

Then worrying about it anyway.

I always try to tell writers to not worry about getting their rough draft perfect or to not worry when the rough draft has flaws. And yet...I struggle with those same things. Thoughts of "it's not good enough!" when of *course* it's not good enough. It's a freaking rough draft.

Time seems to be passing by so fast while development is passing so slowly. It's stressing me out that the year is somehow almost over and there's so much turmoil all around us.

I feel like this year has been so difficult for a lot of creative types. How do you continue to craft stories when it feels like everything is falling apart?

And yet here I am. 500,000 words into this project with a fair bit still to go.

Part of me wants to hope Magnus' route will be easier while knowing Magnus' route is probably going to be a huge, royal pain in the butt. LoL

I think I got all the easy routes done first. So yeah. That was this week. I've reached the point of feeling crushed by the weight of this project. But honestly...I hit the same point with Changeling about four routes in as well. So I guess it's not unusual!

Two routes left to go before the original six are complete. So it's not like I haven't made progress! OWO

Sneak Peeks and Previews:

I haven't heard from the other artist which makes me sad…

But I did get this awesome BG from Vui! Spooooooooooky! *wibbly arms*

Upcoming Week:

Though I'm effectively done with Jack's route, I do have a little cleaning up to do in the last couple of chapters. I just want to reorganise a couple of scenes and may end up doing some editing and rearranging. The potato is done but I want to do just a little spruce up at the end before I pack it up and let it rest for a while.

I think I may code the BGs for Caleb's route this week, then get back to writing after that. Coding BGs takes like...a day or two. It's not that big a deal.

But it'll help me clear my head before I get into Maggie's route.

So yeah. That's my plan for this week.

See you next time!
