Great reaction as always! For Melinda it was more than everything being equal. It was about everything she lost that his money could never buy her back. Which is time, her youth and her ability to have children and a full life. Granted it was her decision to drive her car into his trailer but in her mind his cheating made her do it. And then it just felt like he copy and pasted all his dreams with Melinda to the next girl. Like to me that’s the equivalent to someone you’re serious with and ya come up with the names to your future children but then you break up and the guy has a baby with someone else and uses those baby name ya dreamt up together. That’s like a gut punch. Not so simple to move on from but it sucks she couldn’t.

2023-11-14 00:39:49 +0000 UTCi remember going watch this in the theatre w my mom bc we both love(d) tyler and watched all his plays (this movie is based off a play just like a lot of his other movies), and we were shook, the whole theatre gasped at the ending fr. But she was definitely in the wrong, he paid her back for everything, although she did still love him she had to live with her choices, he had every right to move on too, just a tragic ending for nothing.

Then He replenished Her.. and she used all she had for revenge 🤡.. She had everything she needed to make the life of her dreams for HERSELF.. for she made HIS dreams and aspiration HERS.. & she fucked herself over.. And her sisters enabled her, by coddling her & not icing her out.. they told her bout herself.. But they didnt actively hold her accountable by cutting her off or no shihh.

She enabled His Selfishness & Thoughtlessness by Not Being Able to Say 'No'.. & Thee fact she aint have no solid goals of her own.. She didnt feel an urgency to Say No or protect her own Shihh.. Having Goals makes you Value yourself & what you have more, so you dont juss be giving everything away.

Robert was wrong because he used her for 18 years and then when she was done he gave the other women all the stuff he said he was going to give her. The yacht, the house, and the ring. Plus he got her pregnant and it was a little bit his fault she couldn’t have kids. I don’t think she should have tried to kill him . However, she loved him and all he did was use her the whole time by working on some battery when he could have got a job. Then when he got the job he almost ruined it for them . So they were both wrong but Robert never cared about no one but himself to me.

2023-11-12 20:25:28 +0000 UTCTo me, both were wrong at different points of the film. Robert was deadass wrong for taking advantage of Melinda financially and emotionally for all those years. Melinda was wrong for her behavior after she discovered Robert was engaged. There is neither a protagonist nor antagonist in this film. The ending was a tragic consequence of both Robert’s carelessness in his relationship with Melinda and Melinda’s bitterness and rage—on top of her untreated mental illness/personality disorder.
