Mickey's 60th Birthday with Joe Kwaczala (Main Feed)

In 1988, The Magical World of Disney aired an ambitious special celebrating Mickey Mouse's 60th birthday. Sitcom character guest appearances, a sorcerer Mickey return and a lot of references to MURDER. Eisner is in there too, don't worry.

The returning Joe Kwaczala helps us break it all down, from his personal VHS that includes all the original commercials.

Joe Kwaczala's feature film AMERICAN COMIC is debuting at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood, Sunday 6/29. Tickets here!

I'm just glad that, after all these years, Mike finally found an excuse to mention Richard Deacon on the podcast. Perhaps a Second Gate episode about his microwave cuisine books is in the cards?

Ok, Three's Company Lineage: 'Three's Company' is based on the British show 'Man About the House'. (Weirdly, in 'Man About the House' Chrissy was the same character as our Janet, and Jo was the same character as our Chrissy. The British Jack Tripper was Robin Tripp. The Ropers were the Ropers.) Both shows had a spin-off show about the Ropers. The British show was called 'George and Mildred' and the U.S. had 'The Ropers'. After both original shows ended they had spin-off shows about Jack/Robin owning a restaurant: 'Robin's Nest' in the U.K. and 'Threes a Crowd' in the U.S.. If this isn't Club 3 material then I don't know what is...
