A week of back-end shenanigans!
Added 2020-03-25 00:09:09 +0000 UTCThis week, we really ceased work on new content for the Alpha, to focus better on making sure that what we DO have is working as well as possible. Unfortunately, most of that is wrestling with esoteric code and converting existing content- however, there IS eye Candy:

Just last night, we were FINALLY able to get the IK working on all four legs of the cats. This will essentially ensure that in the next alpha, when the cat moves over an uneven or sloped surface, the motion will be FAR more natural. This is a MAJOR step forward- understand that creating natural quadruped movement is one of the hardest things in game development. We are VERY lucky to be working with such talented people!
We're very close to finalizing the WISL playlist for the beta. While the full radio broadcast will probably top out at 60 minutes or so, you can expect to hear a half-hour's worth in the next Alpha, including advertisements for local businesses, weather, interviews, local music, and an abbreviated version of the "Free Island Republic Radio" broadcast - you can hear a bit of it, right here! The whole thing's coming together far better than I could have expected...
Arjuna continues his work, giving every last prop and wall a facelift:

We're close to finally having the audio controls hooked up to the new menu, and getting all colliders into place (to ensure that the camera/cat will no longer pass through walls/buildings.)
More background/"meta" stuff continues to be produced. You might wanna keep an eye on a few websites, over the next few months...

Finally, as I mentioned a few weeks ago:
As we are drawing closer to the final alpha's release date, I am scaling back the Patreon updates to twice a month. This is to ensure that I have two more evenings a month to dedicate to the project, which will minimize the chances of any further delays.
However, as more and more of us find ourselves stuck at home, I might start checking in with you guys via Youtube livecast just a bit more often. I really enjoy engaging with the folks following the game's development. Consider dropping by for the next one!

PLEASE STAY SAFE OUT THERE - See ya'll in two weeks - we will have such delights to show you!!!!
