Chapter 3 This immortal impressed by the new world

School? What is that place? And a classroom—is that a torture chamber?

Jake was now having a hard time staying focused. His mind wandered as he tried to comprehend the purpose of school and the classroom.

The first class today was about the history of Columbus.

As the teacher began to talk about Columbus' voyages, Jake's mind started to wander. He couldn't help but feel a sense of boredom and disinterest in the subject.

The dry facts and dates seemed to blur together, making it even harder for him to stay engaged in the classroom.

'Well, I can't take it anymore. I will cultivate my mind while she teaches them.'

Jake then started to cultivate his mind with mind art. This art was essential for him. It made his mind clearer when thinking about complicated things. He could use it at the study, but he won't. And why is that?

He already remembered all of the content in all of the text books he had and even on the internet. Thus, it made him bored very quickly.

And as he cultivates his mind. He felt something or someone tugging at his mind. His brows frowned together deeply before he did something to the invader.

'You dare touch this one's mind!'

He exclaimed in his mind, his mind filled with anger. He then used his mind to force out the intruder. As he expelled the intruder from his mind, a sense of relief washed over him.

Someone who sat in the backroom suddenly fell from the table. The loud thud startled him, causing him to turn around in surprise. He saw a disheveled figure struggling to get up from the floor, her face filled with embarrassment.

She was a blonde-haired woman who wore everything in white. He didn't know her, but he knew that she was the one who invaded his mind earlier.

'Serve you right. Dare to touch this one mind without permission!'

He couldn't help but feel a slight satisfaction at seeing her stumble, considering the intrusion she had made into his thoughts.

However, his initial anger was quickly replaced by curiosity as he wondered what had driven her to invade his mind in the first place.

And there was something wrong with this situation.

'I remember that this world should be a normal world, right?'

He can't be certain about it being a normal world anymore. There were many things that were different from his original world. The existence of telepathy told him otherwise.

'I need to keep an eye on her, but I would not stoop so low as to read memories like her. I am not a rapist.'

He firmly believed in respecting others' privacy and boundaries, even in a telepathic world. Instead, he decided he would approach her directly and have an open conversation about why she would do that to him.

The woman looked at him from behind. She didn't think that someone would be able to repel her from invading their mind.

She was intrigued by his strong mental barriers and felt curious toward him. However, she also felt a sense of disappointment as she realized that her telepathic abilities might not be as powerful as she had thought.

'I need to control it, lest I accidentally read him again. Focus, Emma, you can do it.'

The woman's name was Emma Frost. She was a mutant with the ability to read and manipulate minds, but due to her power, she had just awakened. It made her lose control of her abilities from time to time if she wasn't focused enough.

The class ended without anyone noticing that she had fallen from the table. She had used her power, so no one noticed.

She was about to stand up and act like nothing happened, but when she stood up, She came face-to-face with the one who had repelled her from his mind.

Emma looked at Jake confidently. She still acted like nothing had happened. However, deep down, she couldn't help but feel a pang of frustration and curiosity about why Jake was immune to her mind manipulation.

Emma wondered if there was something special about him or if it was just a coincidence. Regardless, she decided to keep her abilities a secret.

"What can I do to help you, new student?"

He was a new student? He didn't remember anything about him being a new student. No, He didn't even know this was his school!

"Why have you tried to invade my mind, mortal?"

Old habits die hard. He still can't change the way he speaks completely , even though he knows it makes him stand out.

He had spent centuries blending in with those cultivators, and some habits were ingrained too deeply. He needed to be careful not to reveal his true nature, especially to someone like Emma, who seemed to be processing special powers.

He knew that her power didn't come from practice but was given to her by birth.

He had seen enough in his long life to know that there were those with innate powers and those without innate powers.

Emma's face twitched slightly. This was the first time someone called her mortal. Was it supposed to be an insult or something?

"I don't know what you mean, and please make way. I need to go to the next class."

She wanted to escape. But who was Jake? He was an immortal who had many powers up his sleeves. Even without cultivation, he was still a scary being. He stopped her in her tracks with his soul pressure.

Emma's heart almost popped out of place as she felt the weight of Jake's soul pressure bearing down on her. It was as if his very existence exuded an otherworldly energy that left her feeling powerless and vulnerable.

She couldn't help but wonder what he wanted from her and if she would ever be able to escape his grasp.
