*whistles* the aforementioned pencil, the matte black Blackwing. I honestly don't think it's much different from any other solid quality 3B pencil, but I'm enjoying these while I have them. :] I've historically used mechanical pencils with 0.5 HB lead, a habit leftover from all my years of notetaking and homework in school. HB lead is great for projects that require regular erasing (aka the ran through pages of my math and physics homework), but I've long been hankering for something with more oomph and range. enter: the lead scale.
ooh yeah look at all those different values3B's a pretty good jump from HB and I've been pretty pleased with the increased darkness I've been able to get in my drawings. the lead is also easier to smudge, which allows for nice variation in texture + it's fun to get your fingers up in a drawing and move stuff around. :D drawing has been really enjoyable lately, I love how easy it is to pick up a pencil and get straight to it. I also feel like I approach drawing traditionally and digitally differently and have been trying to bridge the gap by incorporating more of my traditional habits into my digital work. it's proven rather tricky and for now it's much more satisfying for me to draw traditionally. xD
