I've been really dedicated to and interested in traditional art supplies lately. when I use them, I feel like I'm able to let go and draw more loosely, be less concerned about the outcome and live in the process and experimentation more. I'm always comparing it to digital art, because it's what I know most intimately, but the limitlessness of digital sometimes feels like a hindrance ironically. so much time and brain space is spent on decision-making, because in a world of endless capability and features (so so many features my goodness), how do I decide what's the best brush to use? with traditional, it often goes like, well, I have the pencil and paper that I have so I guess I'll draw with those. the deliberation over tools is done and I can go straight on into art making.
so yeah, I've been playing around with layering supplies more and more, discovering texture combinations that arise from the interplay, and learning so much. thanks for your support here on patreon that allows me to buy art supplies and explore new mediums. I'm having a lot of fun and it's really helped me enjoy making art in new ways. ___〆(・∀・)
