something peculiar has started happening now that I'm going on daily walks. wherever I go, my mind sees shapes. I've walked in this park countless times, yet the landscape has been made anew with whatever has decided to grant me this mode of attention. out of the literal woodwork, shapes and textures are jumping at me, waving their hands in my face, beckoning me to look closer. I'm more than happy to oblige, because it fascinates me that so many little artworks naturally exist in the space around me. here are some shapes that have stood out to me on recent walks:
I'm realizing how Julio Torres this is all sounding, yet I'm just so delighted by all the beautiful detail that lives in places my eyes used to glaze over. this also reminds me of a practice some artists do where they cut out a paper frame that they can hold up anywhere to create an impromptu "artwork". it's all about training your eye to see compositions in every day life.
so yeah, walks have taken on a whole new level of fun now that my eyes are always scanning my surroundings for interesting shapes. they are everywhere and it's awesome!!
