I do have a dashcam, and I too use a mirror tap to power it! When I bought my new car in 2022 I picked up a Dongar adapter and it allowed for a perfect clean installation. I went with the Viofo A129 Pro Duo (4K front cam, 1080P rear cam). It does support stuff like parking mode but I had no interest in it. Before that in my previous car I had a StreetGuardian, another brand of wedge-shaped camera. I do care about image quality somewhat but all these cameras have tiny sensors that are compromised in some way. It's definitely saved my bacon a few times. If anyone I know needs a dashcam, I usually rec the Viofo wedges because they're usually the best bang for the buck in terms of features and IQ. I've also used footage from it for things like VCF videos and the footage is certainly usable. Sometimes you don't just catch car related things, though... last year I actually had a bird strike and it was caught on both cameras.
