Devlog: Vocifer Cave

This week work left me too tired to draw or program, but it turns out that 3D modeling costs me almost no energy, so I started working on level 4 and pretty much finished most of it.

Floor level platforms of the entrance room to Vocifer Cave

The first area of level 4 is fairly simple. Just basic platforming and me having fun with twisty geometry. However, this area can be crossed by murdering everything or peacefully, if you recruit the right ally. Or being a psycho and throwing yourself through the air hoping to land somewhere safe, that's also allowed.

 Entrance room to Vocifer Cave

It's complete, but having the whole structure as a single object with a single collider will probably make Godot explode. I must split it into more manageable pieces.

I vastly simplified the geometry, which allowed me to improve some details. There will have to be some fixes later on, of course, but for now it should be more than serviceable. I'll only have to program the stalactites and, eventually, the vocifer hulks blocking the paths.

 Dark room of Vocifer Cave

The gimmick of the next room is that it's so dark that the player can only see in a very reduced area. And there are monsters in there, so you have to combine that with a bit of stealth. However, if you can beat both this and the previous room without killing anyone, you'll unlock a new ally, who will be needed for the next room:

 Darker room of Vocifer Cave

Okay, this one's just silly. Very basic platforming, a couple of long jumps, barely any effort with the modeling, the dev's getting lazy. Except this room introduces a rare game mechanic: the previous room was too dark to see anything beyond a radius of a few feet, but this one is pitch black, you can't see the floor at all, so you depend on an ally to guide you using sound.

These will require a couple of new shaders to make them work. Hopefully I'll have a more stable schedule soon and I can work on these more steadily.
