25 ton cheap and fast energy boat BattleMech, Wolf Empire, ilClan Era.

Commissioned by Alaric Ward during the ilClan war, the Earendil was designed to be used supplementally with heavier 'Mechs to open up holes for them to exploit. This significantly increased the effectiveness of heavier designs at a relatively low cost. The fact that it utilized the same engine as both the retiring Mist Lynx and the Falcons' Cougar, as well as support weapons designed for Elementals and ProtoMechs, allowed the Wolves to recycle engines and weapons, further reducing their cost of production and increasing the efficiency of the Wolves' technological turnover. This had the side effect of freeing up forces for the frontlines that would otherwise have been used in defense of their manufacturing centers, because any given factory could be protected using the old but operational military technology waiting to be repurposed. This ended up creating the illusion that the Wolves were running out of resources and switching to older, lighter designs, when in fact it allowed them to bring more power to bear on the frontlines without straining their economy, allowing them to hold onto their existence long enough for Kalidessa Kerensky to save the Clan. Thus, it was not the 'Mech itself, but the streamlining of deployment and technological turnover that the 'Mech's production allowed, that helped save Clan Wolf.
