Bolting Bible is Done!

5th of 8 Posts for June: Bibles, emails, and hiring climbing magazine's writers

BOLTING BIBLE: The more quiet I am on Youtube and Instagram, the more I'm ACTUALLY DOING.  I leaned into the The Bolting Bible this week taking it over the "super publishable enough" line.  This needed to be completely rewritten so it wouldn't be highline-centric but to separate out the 4 sports we cover.  Not only is this 2 year project of updating it to the 5th edition done, we also have it available again in PDF form.  We spent the last 2 weeks getting it coded so that every time I update something, I can run a script and update the PDF download link.  I am now able to edit and slowly release the 20 bolting videos I've been sitting on waiting for the Bolting Bible 5th Edition to be worthy of promoting.

EMAILS: The biggest concern of making a PDF available, is that it is always changing and I had no way of updating those who downloaded it.  I also find the algorithm ebbs and flows and promotes some videos that don't necessarily deserve it to 600k+ views and others at 40k views even though the comments are all positive, the thumbnail engaging and it being tightly edited.  I also wanted to do giveaways but legally can't just offer exclusively to you, my patrons as that is a "pay to play".  Sending a full value weekly or bimonthly newsletter helps solve all those problems.  If we do a bunch of written content or updates, I can share that along with the videos and shorts without the clickbait.  Any giveaways will include patrons entered twice for a higher chance of winning.  Rocky Talkie already said yes, I'll be talking to Beal in a week or two.

NEXT SATURDAY: I'll be pre-releasing in next Saturday's Patron post the film I've been working on "2 Dudes 1 Line - World Record Zipline BASE".  It likely won't be public for several months.

HIRING: Most of donations go into the lab or break tests, I've also hired coaches for different skill sets to make me better as that is a 1 time investment that pays big dividends (story, audio, sciencing better, etc). Hiring video editors is expensive and the biggest loss of "style" control but writing is clearly a crux for me.  I'm testing out a writer this week who has worked for climbing magazine and Rock and Ice to see if we can kick out all these past blogs and start Breaking Gear Fear, the next book.  Thank you for your support!
