I'm still catching up on stuff from the past week, so you've probably seen this one already. About 400,000 people have as of this writing, which is insane.
This one is pretty self-explanatory. A few months back while starting to re-evaluate my YouTube stategy, I decided it would be fun to try a video essay (I do have a degree in Cinema Studies, after all). I've been complaining about Marvel Studios' color grading since 2012, as any of my friends can tell you, so this seemed like an obvious topic to go with. I had explained it to so many people that I already had my argument down.
I looked at this video as a fun little one-off experiment that would probably be too nerdy and technical to appeal to most people. Clearly I was wrong. Since the video was released n Wednesday, our subscriber count has jumped from 18,000 to 28,000. There are literally thousands of comments demanding more video essays. So I guess I'll make more. I really hope I can think of some ideas...
The video was originally just going to be called "Marvel's Color Grading," but last Tuesday in one of the workshops at NextUp we were learning about the importance of titles and thumbnails. So that night when I went to export the video, I reconsidered this and decided on a more descriptive, attention-grabbing title. And here we are. Thanks, YouTube NextUp!
Anyway, there will be more video essays, because it would be really stupid to go against the demands of this many people. Expect the next one in...maybe January? Don't hold me to that.
