Alright, here it is. The biggest video of the year thus far. We've been shooting this since June, and it's been in the works since March. As I mention at the end of the video, there was an interview with Snyder in which he mentioned his interest in making an adaptation of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead (an idea that is both insane and wonderful). This got me thinking about him turning his attention away from comic books and toward famous novels, so I tweeted about it:
This got a ton of great suggestions. The most popular ones were Little Women and, for some reason, Lolita (what would that even be?). So we discussed it and brainstormed for a long time. The toughest part was figuring out novels that were well known enough for most people to have some idea of the story, but that were also feasible for us to pull off with our limited budget. Most things that are considered "classic works of literature" were written a long time ago, and would thus be period pieces, and making a period piece with pretty much zero budget in New York City is...tough. It's a shame, since I had a really fun idea for Oliver Twist. We wanted a bit of variety, so we settled on a classic 20th century novel, a period piece with female protagonists, and a children's book.
I really want to thank all of you who pledge to this Patreon, because this is the perfect example of what you make possible. This is an expensive video by our standards. The funds raised by the Patreon helped cover camera rentals, light rentals, materials for the rain machine, costumes, transportation, and, of course, a sledgehammer. If it weren't for you guys we'd be less likely to make stuff on this scale.
I'm thrilled and relieved that this is finally finished and out there for people to see. I hope you all enjoy it.
