Shen Makes an Earnest Attempt at Making a Fursona (Pt. 4)

So, we started with these:

And then it was my task to decide which one I finally wanna go with... and it's...
THE RACCOON
THAT'S RIGHT, I'M BASIC, I'M SORRY. I LIKE THE RACCOON.
There are some good things about him:
1) He has a distinctive face design, which is useful if I wanna put him in other outfits.
2) He can make this type of face:
Which is a really funny and good type of face for him.
But there's one problem with him, and that is that he gives off a "Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy" vibe. Here's me exploring why that might be:
And changing some stuff about him to avoid the biggest pain points:
But I actually wasn't too fond of how this new outfit looked. There was just something unappealing about it and I couldn't place my finger on what, so I decided to do some rapid iteration:
I found that he looks a lot better with the top part of the outfit tied around his waist. It gives him that tanuki vibe I was thinking about in the previous image, especially with that braid pattern on the chest. Also the fully pointy teeth (rather than just the fangs) are back. Here is the full turnaround of him like this:
I quite like this version of him. The 10-U on his back is some number assigned to him, but I picked 10-U because it sounds like the beginning of "tanuki". "10-U"ki, get it? I think I'm gonna lock in this being the in-job-outfit character design for him. Still need some more casual outfits though, which I'll do in the next post. Then I wanna draw him like you just caught him raiding the fridge at 2am.

Very late to comment here, but I wanted to say I deeply approve of a racc with a big butt. 10/10, your design actually looks really fantastic and reflects your personality so well. Love you for making this for yourself, merry christmas <3

It might be cool to make them into their own characters and maybe they can be friends with raccoon Shen :3 Is his name Shen too btw?
