Obtaining Basic Core Knowledge
Added 2021-03-31 23:28:25 +0000 UTCOne of the things that I run into time after time with flight instructor candidates is the lack of basic core knowledge. The really hard thing to get across to the instructor candidate is where to go and find this information in the least amount of work as possible. It seems at some point during everyone's training that their instructor does a substandard job in preparing them for what is ahead in their journey.
Most of the CFI candidates that I work with are usually involved in a program that I like the call "zero to hero". If their instructor would just tell them on the first day what's in store for them in the future and what is needed to achieve those goals, then the success rate of CFIs within the industry would be much better than they are now.
I have included in this month's edition a copy of both the Instrument and the Commercial ACS with basic answers to every line item within. This is a tool that I use with my students and preparing them for the instructor check rides and I think that you would be successful if you use these as well.
