I need to explain the meaning of Royal titles in Chinese Imperial throne. the title Empress dowager it doesn't mean the queen, it means the Queen Mother. If the Emperor is alive crowned wife will be called Empress but when he dies she gets elevated to the position of Empress Dowager, and it is perceived as a promotion cuz that makes her the surviving parents of the emperor whether she was his mother or stepmother, and that makes her higher in power and authority then even the empress herself after all we're comparing the mother to the daughter-in-law.

Great reaction and thoughts guys! Two things I'll add:
1) I believe Suirei was helped by the men we see (as in they were in on it) because her coffin was literally nailed shut, and we see someone removing the lid of it for her. They then gave her the clothes and they all walked out together. The "risk" was betting the poison wouldn't kill you and that they would get to you before being burned.
2) As it currently stands, Jinshi, regardless of his true identity, is the first in line for the throne. With no male heir, as the "brother" he would inherit regardless of if people know he's actually the son or not. HOWEVER, if nobody ever finds out he's the son, and the emperor has a new son, he would not have to become emperor.
2.5) We also know one high ranking official who seemingly has figured out Jinshi's real identity... Lakan.

I think Suirei was deciding if Maomao was going to be an obstacle that needed to be cleared, or not. It wasn't really a test, more like a risk assessment.

I think the men who were in the morgue with Suirei were in on it. Jinshi calling it a risky method was imo because she could've been burned alive if the rescue was timed too late or if she was caught during this plan, she would get executed for her crimes anyway.
