As far as shows that really lend themselves to quality discussions, I'd say: Psycho-Pass Land of the Lustrous (often equated to Made in Abyss in regards to quality). Maybe even Severance (Live Action) I'd like to say, everyone harps about Fullmetal Brotherhood because it's closer to the manga, but it assumes you've already seen the 2003 version, so it rushes past the beginning of the story, which is a real disservice. As far as stories go, my unpopular opinion is that its best to watch the 2003 version first.

A genuine classic, the show that proves that romcom tropes exist because when they're done well, they work. B Gata H Kei. Really funny series that dares to ask - what if we portrayed teenagers just as sex-brained as they are, but also just as dumb and clueless as they are? Surprisingly safe show, considering the premise of the main character being an attractive girl who's obsessed with making a ton of "sex friends".

Older anime I think you both would love watching and discussing: - The Monogatari Series (starting with Bakemonogatari) - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Fate/Zero and others in the Fate Series - Ergo Proxy Those were the first that came to mind in an effort to keep it short. But if you happen to need more... I'll also mention Overlord, Claymore, Assassination Classroom, Gunslinger Girl, Darker Than Black (S1), Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, No Game No Life, Violet Evergarden, and Castlevania. For live action, I think The Magicians would be a really fun and interesting watch. A book (a book?! Yes, especially as it has no anime adaptation I'm aware of) I'd highly recommend for several reasons is Death Note: Another Note, the Los Angeles BB Murder Cases by NisioisiN. The first reason is that I know you both enjoyed Death Note; this novel focuses on the case in which Naomi Misora worked under L. Second, while NisiosiN is not the author of Death Note, he did write the Monogatari Series, which is among my top anime recommendations. Despite both stories and narratives being incredibly different, I somehow was certain he wrote the Monogatari Series when I discovered it long ago. When I looked it up to confirm my hunch, I could only feel pure admiration toward Shaft's adaptation of his novels (I read them after watching the series) as it clearly shows the love and care taken in representing his unique and talented writing style. Lastly, the book is incredible. I was bewildered on how such a masterpiece was fit into so few pages; flawless and utterly complete, I'd encourage anyone who liked Death Note to give it a read!

I hope you'll give this a readthrough and despite being a little late the community agrees... Given how much you've liked Madoka and generally changes in art-style (BTR) within anime: Monogatari Series is something I think you guys would like a lot. Same Studio which has a distinct style and the writer is unparalleled when it comes to LN adaptations. With how much you've like MiA: Ranking of Kings There's not really a 1-to-1 I could grasp onto for relation, however, I think that with somewhat dark themes, a loveable protag, great world, and ever-present mystery (bottom of Abyss) I think Ranking of Kings would be a great place to go. For older anime and basically classics that I think ya'll should check out: 1. Toradora - often categorized as a RomCom but it's more accurate to call it a character drama imo. Classic love story based on the principles of what makes for a good relationship. 2. Haruhi Suzumiya - sort of the quintessential anime that solidified a lot of the modern tropes. The show is a classic but it's just ok however the movie is probably one of the (if not standalone) greatest movies in anime even 14 years later. 3. Fate/Zero - Don't feel the need to tackle the full fate franchise at once.. The stories (while somewhat intertwined) are generally standalone from one another and F/Z is probably the best entry point. 4. Great Teacher Onizuka - not enough love is given to this show. 5. Katanagatari - A good toe-dip for NisiOisiN (Monogatari writer) dialogue and storytelling with a complete ending within 12 episodes that really does everything right. Newer anime: 1. Mushoku Tensei 2 pt 2 is coming out, I assume this might be a given though... 2. Spice and Wolf Reboot is coming, the original was amazing so blindly recommending you check it out shortly after it comes out provided the community agrees it's worth a look.. 3. Odd Taxi - the best mystery show that has come out in a long time. 4. JJK? I don't remember if you've watched this or not...

Also a great showcase of Studio Trigger's work, which I don't think you guys have seen much of yet, in the same way that MS:MM was a great showcase of Studio Shaft's work. -I...don't know if you guys are Star Wars fans? But if you are, I'd love to see you guys react to Star Wars: Visions, the full series. I've seen a lot of Star Wars fans who are aware of anime react to it, but I haven't seen the opposite: primarily anime fans, with some awareness of Star Wars, react to it. Really solid series. MOVIES -Mind Game is...such a wild film, and such a difficult film to react to, that I'd like to see someone try, just because I think it has a lot of worthwhile stuff to say about humanity. -The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is more of a personal recommendation. Easily my favorite anime film. Even if you don't react to it, I think it'd be really up y'all's alley to watch on your own time. LIVE ACTION -Chernobyl. 5 episodes. Critically acclaimed. Enough said. -Severance. Lots of mind games and commentary on how modern Americans treat work, lots of mystery for you all to pull apart, and I think it actually fits quite well with a lot of the discussion around the work culture of animators that's been in the discourse-sphere recently, so it could tie to that despite being a fully American TV show.

Hibike! Euphonium would be a dream come true. My all time favorite anime but quite an under rated and lesser watched slice of life compared to the other Kyoto Animation classics like Clannad, Violet Evergarden, Hyouka, or K-On!. I would love for autosave to watch any of the KyoAni essentials (which there are many of) but Hibike! would be my personal choice. Sadly I do not believe there will ever be enough popular support for Hibike to win a poll on a large channel, even with the third and final season starting in just a few weeks.

You haven't really put up a straight comedy, so I'm going to suggest Ms. Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. For anime: I will always suggest "Baccano!" when someone asks for anime suggestions. I know it's not the big thing everyone talks about, but I just love it and even just seeing it on a poll is nice and maybe more people might see it on there and decide to give it a chance. Another one of my favourites is "Code Geass". Much more well known than Baccano!, so maybe it might have a chance of winning. And since both of those are quite old animes, I'd recommend "The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You" for a newer anime. I'm not a anime watchers that watches all the romance and/or harem animes studios keep pumping out, but I decided to give this a chance since couple of my friends have talked about the manga highly in the past and I was so positively surprised on what the show was. The comedy in that show was on another level, so if you want something a little more lighthearted, I'd definitely recommend this one. For live-action: For live-action shows I'd gonna recommend "Mr. Robot" and "Peaky Blinders". Both amazing shows with superb acting and now especially is a good time to watch Peaky Blinders, since Cillian Murphy has been a pretty common household name recently and his role in Peaky Blinders is definitely one of his best performances. Mr. Robot has long been one of my favourite live-action stories and the possibility for theories in that show is endless. I'd love to see your guys' take on it.

This video has a bit of a cinematic feel to it, lol. Anime-based... I recommend Zombie Land Saga (new), Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song (new), and Chihayafuru (older and kinda new). Vivy is 13 episodes and a complete story, created by WIT Studio (Attack on Titan S1 - S3) written by Tappei Nagatsuki (Re:Zero) and Eiji Umehara (Chaos;Child, which is in-canon related to Steins;Gate and very highly regarded). It is an anime-original series. I would prefer this be added over Zombie Land Saga, but both are good. Zombie Land Saga has 24-ish episodes and is made by MAPPA. Not too sure about the authors. It is not yet complete. It is an anime-original series. Chihayafuru is based on a manga and has around 64-ish episodes. It is not a complete adaptation, about 50% of the way through the manga. However, it is excellent. All of these are fantastic shows, and I highly recommend them for an anime-based poll. I hope all is well with your grandmother after that accident!

It's a shonen anime of a different kind, not a battle shonen, not a sports anime, basically a fictional autobiography that sheds some light on the manga industry with some romance, suspense, drama, comedy. It's also been completely adapted, so it's a complete story. It's from the Mangaka Duo that made Death Note. As the anime is from 2010-2013 I don't think I have seen anyone react to it.

Your Lie in April, Erased, Summer Time Rendering, Heavenly Delusion, A Place Further than the Universe, Code Geass, Neon Genesis Evangelion. Also more Mushoku Tensei is coming pretty soon. I wish I could recommend Fate but there just isn't a good adaptation of the first route and a lot is lost because of that.

What if you did a manga read-through? I suggest Berserk. It's a dark fantasy masterpiece but none of it's anime adaptations do it justice. I also suggest One Piece for a manga read-through. The anime is too badly paced for me to recommend it unfortunately. I see some recommendations for the One Piece live action. FYI, it does spoil a big reveal that happens way later in the manga / anime, so keep that in mind if you decide to do one or the other.

I'm going to suggest something that's never going to win, but I recommend watching the Ghost in the Shell (1995) movie. This movie was the inspiration for creating the Matrix movies, inspired Steven Spielberg to create a Hollywood live-action movie, and it has been said that Cyberpunk Edgerunners was also heavily inspired by this movie. It was well received for it's deep philosophy (dualism between body and mind), and inspired a handful of anime including the more recent one on Netflix.
