Downtown Dungeon 4 Year Anniversary Art!
Added 2025-02-01 01:11:51 +0000 UTCDowntown Dungeon is FOUR years old now and I'm continuing my yearly tradition of creating fake video game box art with this piece!
Here's some notes about this drawing... This year, I chose the NES, which has a lot of different styles, but I went specifically with the late 90s NES box art that used a red banner at the top. I tried to go for that "Americanized" style of replacing cute Japanese characters with ripped, muscle men by drawing a shirtless Corbel in center frame. I took a lot of inspiration from Frank Frazetta's art for this one, as did many other artists of the time did too (just look at the Castlevania box art for example). Originally the fake logos at the bottom said "Cambria" (which you can see in the WIPs) but I changed it to "Zapfino" because, well, it rhymes with Nintendo. The idea to make it look worn-out and used was a last minute idea. Not sure which version I will post on socials first just yet. I like them both...
