Finishers and administrators

Did you come to the Sydney live show? If so, you saw Michael Bevan on rare form, a room full of people cheering replays 30 years later, and some of you even managed to find a pub with us after the show. Quite the quest.

Some good news is that for those who weren't there, this interview will be released at some stage in the next few weeks, when the schedule suits.

Some more good news is that with a successful couple of test cases in Melbourne and Sydney thanks to our event-organising colleague Tom Downey, we will attempt a full tour at each five Test cities next summer. And if possible we'll have a London show in September. Stay tuned.

If you missed our Day 4 TFW Daily, which wasn't released when last years very late Wednesday email went out, here's the audio in this week's late Wednesday email. Yes, it's Friday.

How to make an Australian Test opener

Season 15, Episode 18: It's a beautiful day in Sydney, and time to catch up on a lot. Danyal Rasool joins the show, the Pakistan correspondent from Cricinfo giving his perspective of the tour that was. How will Australia pick a new Test opener? We'll look over the India-Australia women's series after a slew of matches influenced by Phoebe Litchfield and new 300-gamer Ellyse Perry. Plus, dubious dealings at the Afghanistan Cricket Board, yet another double ton for Cheteshwar Pujara, barbs fly over Cape Town's terrible Test pitch, and plenty more detours besides. Get in the hammock with us this week.

The audio is here. This week's ep is also on video.

The Final Word with Nick Hockley

Season 15, Episode 18: Running Australian cricket will never be an easy job. Nick Hockley’s  path to the chief executive chair was from left field, slotted in when  administrators were getting taken out during the pandemic. A few years  on, established in the role, he talked us through his backstory, his  hopes for cricket’s future, and a range of the issues that have landed  in his in-tray. Recorded in the Ladies Stand at the SCG as summer rain  fell the day after the Test.

Here's the audio. Video with its picturesque backdrop is up the top of this email.

Julio Pledge!

That's right, not everybody is a nerd. Some prefer to kick back on the banana lounge, pop on their shades, and listen while others do the digging in the stat mines.
