2025-08-19 16:35:42 +0000 UTCMaybe I'm thinking too deep into it, but I've always felt that once Monica and Chandler got married it was the beginning of the end for this show. Sure there were still 3 more seasons to go, but I always knew that once they got married, they would eventually want to have kids, get a bigger place and move away. They even discuss it at the beginning of season 7: "What else did you think about?" / "Well, stuff like where we'd live, like a small place outside the city where our kids could learn to ride their bikes and stuff." I know technically the show was an ensemble and there was no main characters, but since the show centered around Monica and Chandler's apartment, it was always apparent to me that following their relationship and marriage would be what changed the dynamic of the group eventually. Sure they loved their friends, but they always felt the more serious couple of the group who did want to grow up and move on with their lives. You can't really blame them for wanting that, even though I understand how hard it is for the group. It's hard moving on and change is hard, but if anyone was going to do it first, it was always going to be Monica and Chandler.
