Friends S8 Ep: 13 & 14 - FULL REACTION

Genuinely surprised not much happened between Joey and Rachel these two episodes, but it was really nice to have more focus on Ross and how he deals with having another guy being there for all the special moments with Rachel. Enjoy :)

oooooh I second this!

How on earth is it possible that I started watching friends with Oscar this year and now I caught up and have to wait for new uploads???? This world is so incredibly cruel.

Kira W

I think I've begun enjoying these bites almost as much as watching Oscar's reactions.

Jim Schmitz

I was thinking when I saw this that Oscar probably wouldn't get the reference to 60s and 70s American TV shows. Thumbs up to you!

Just started the second episode. With the massage thing, it’s just about preference. I have a friend who is a massage therapist, but she also plays piano in the pit orchestra for a lot of the shows I perform in. There have been times, she’s witnessed what I’m doing onstage and she gives me a professional massage in her studio at home, just to make sure I’m taking care of myself. I’ve never felt weird about it because it’s been professional, but that’s just me.

This is really a top tier season for Joey. The way he cares for his friends is so touching. I agree, he definitely always wants that deep connection, even if he doesn’t always know that’s what he’s looking for.

Heather Geer

I wish they would have kept that line in!

Watching these episodes as I’m home sick… I just can’t understand how some people can’t keep things to themselves when someone comes to them in confidence. I know it’s for storyline. It’s just so frustrating and not good friend behavior. I know it was out of Monica’s excitement, but if a friend comes to with something personal, I know they trust me. I’m not going to air out their personal lives even to other friends. Super frustrating.

Re: Monica's closet, it's in the deleted scenes but she explains that it's all the "stuff that doesn't belong in any category". She's just TOO organized :)

Your assessment on Joey is spot on. He really is so sweet and he was unbelievably mature, particularly in E14. You pointing out the stigma for men to do anything "girly" is spot on as well. It's still so prevalent today so no wonder it was back then. Fun facts: In the bloopers for the scene when Ross arrives late at the hospital in E14, David actually runs past the waiting room causing Jennifer & Matt to burst out laughing. In the next take, Matt and Jen hide so when David walks in he can't see them and leaves. He also forgets/mixes up his lines and Jen says "What happened to you? You used to be able to act. You were so good!" It's hilarious 🤣 https://youtu.be/6AzvqIXFPTM?si=YvNM-2ZgZqE5IWkz Chandler's "I married Fred Sanford" in E14 is a reference to the 1970s sitcom Sanford and Son, where Fred Sanford is a junk dealer. Chandler then proceeds to sing the Sanford and Son theme song. Also, his "I'm gonna need a bigger boat" in E13 is a reference to Jaws. And Joey's "easy there, Captain Kirk" to Chandler is referencing Captain James T. Kirk who was the captain of the USS Enterprise in the original Star Trek series and the first 7 films. In the opening scene of E13, Joey is wearing a t-shirt with the emblem for the FDNY (New York City Fire Department) with the name Capt Billy Burke. He was a NYC firefighter who died on 9/11. Callback: Ross accidentally tells Rachel the sex of their baby just like Rachel accidentally told Ross the sex of his and Carol's baby. Matthew Perry received his only Emmy nomination of the series for E13. Goofs/Continuity errors: The closet has been seen open before, not locked and not full of junk. Examples: 1x12 (slightly open), 1x13 (open during the final scene) and 6x10 (Rachel opens the closet to look for Christmas presents so it wasn't locked then and probably not full of junk, otherwise Rachel would've mentioned it). Phoebe acts as if it's the first time she's massaging Monica but in 7x13, she said that she had "only two clients all year and were the worst tippers in the world" - she was referring to Ross and Monica.

Heida

Joey really is the best friend to have, what a guy!

Paul

Ross as the baby in Joey's dream has got to be the most terrifying and hilarious thing this show has done

Bungus Fungus

Justice for all the Phoebo's out there, stay strong kings 🤴

Bungus Fungus

I think it's fair to say that Monica canonically has a g-spot between her shoulder blades 💀🤣

Bungus Fungus

I love that we see a new side to Joey through this storyline. He's a goof, but he's a sweet guy.

Maisie

I'm no therapist but I think your analysis of Joey is pretty much on the money.

Rhetorical Thrill

Still a little bit behind. One day I'll catch up

Shané Kummer

I'd loooove to see That 70s Show on the channel someday. It's my favorite sitcom alongside Friends, and no one ever reacts to it!

Skippy

yay! best part of my Sunday

Oh, I can’t wait for these two episodes!!! Day 61: of suggesting (my girl 1991)
