Turning Red - FULL REACTION

I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun I had watching this movie and how interesting the themes were. The animation grew on me very quickly. Enjoy :)

I actually have PMDD, and this is a brilliant take 👌

Bungus Fungus

Maybe Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder?

Maisie

I'd not seen this one before. Not a bad movie. Definately got me thinking back to being a teenager (althoughI feel my entry into periods was a lot less manic. And I don't recall any pandas). Thanks for the watch, Oscar. I enjoyed your take on this.

Christina Moxon

I think Mom's Panda might actually be a representation of mental health issues. too huge, too unpredictable to be left untreated.

Khazar

You should check out the series Dream Productions. It is an Inside Out TV series about Riley's dreams. It is hilarious!

Jordenne Beltrame

I mean I started that crap at 11 honestly... My mom said she started around 9!

Raquel

I can just recommend them to you, if you'll like them depends on you, but i personally love their diverse style so much

Maike_Staytiny

Should I start listening to ateez?? I feel like I should… blackpink was my first EVER concert in 2023 and me and my dad are going this year again for my birthday im so pumped

Isabella

Sameee, 2022 in Berlin was my first Ateez/K-pop/ever concert

Maike_Staytiny

they were my first kpop concert ever, it was after the pandemic, I'm going to go see stray kids this summer I'm so excited

Casper

Yep!

Dametrahl Martin

Ateez🤩

Maike_Staytiny

kpop fan here! who did you go see??

Casper

💜💜

steph

love the bts picture❤️

Isabella

What a charming and beautiful movie 🥺 I enjoyed watching with you!

steph

Did anyone else steal from their parent’s liquor cabinet at those awkward teen parties?

Sarah Marion

The plot is all over the place, brings up multiple conflicts and doesn't really resolve them until the very end and then a bit too neatly for the message it's trying to send. And I think it tries to be both supernatural and highly realistic, and doesn't do a good job trying to be both. Some people do relate very strongly to it, which is a great thing, but I think that (plus the way it was written off for stupid reasons that have nothing to do with actual criticism, by a small but loud faction of people online) makes people gloss over what I think are legitimate criticisms. 💜

Rhetorical Thrill

Mei and every other girl needs to be told that what she’s going through and what she’s feeling is natural. Its bad enough that girls her age often feel insecure so to feel bloated, moody, and out of place just makes it worse

Sarah Marion

Yeah, this is the average 13 year old girl experience

Sarah Marion

that’s so upsetting I’m sorry love :( I hope things get better for you soon❤️

Isabella

Sarah Marion

Both the pandas and 4Town singing together got me singing along! 😁😁

Carven Ridge

Thanx a lot! It works! 🥳

Louisa

What I do is either copy then link to a browser. Or If you’re on iPhone there is a safari icon at the corner and it will open a browser for you.

Ryuichi

Hi Oscar, love your reactions but I was wondering if there is a possibility to rotate the video? I can only watch them with my phone in stand up position. Keep cozy my friend 🫶🏻

Louisa

I was wondering that as well… he must have downloaded it from some website that had the movie in Spanish version….

Isabella

why was the writing in spanish?

azulaghoul

I was literally dying😭

Isabella

It was ateez for me yesterday and from all the K-pop concerts I've been to so far, this one had the best energy, even they were like 'damn your energy today is insane'🫠

Maike_Staytiny

yes omg I went to see blackpink in 2023 and the blinks energy was off the charts!!!

Isabella

Watching this now is so funny, I've just been to a concert of a K-pop group yesterday and 4town fans have the exact same energy🤣🤣

Maike_Staytiny

Oscar, you're timing is impeccable my friend. My monthlies started today and you post this 🤣 Not me crying over the movie casually and unashamedly mentioning pads, when it was such a source of shame for girls to be seen with them when I was in middle school 🥹

Bungus Fungus

"You are so hard on yourself, and if I taught you that... I'm sorry" As a daughter of loving but strict immigrant parents, this movie hit me like a ton of bricks in so many ways, especially with that quote ❤️‍🩹

Bungus Fungus

Am I the only one who thinks the growing beard looks good on Oscar?

Astoria

Something I always questioning, Meimei is 13 and her mother said "it's too early" The whole film is more or less about 'growing up and becoming a woman'. And I love it's in early 2000s with the CDs and all the stuff we had.

Astoria

could you explain more specifically? personally i thought it was really cohesive and every choice they made was ultimately intentional, so i'm just wondering about your perspective :)

aleena

1:21:23 "these guys just have permanent aura" HELP BAHAHAHA

aleena

LOVE THIS MOVIE. "why are they called 4town when there are 5 of them?" 🗣️🔥‼️

aleena

totally agree!

Isabella

I really like a lot of what this movie tries to do, and there are plenty of fun and relatable moments, but as a whole I think it fumbles the execution. It feels like five different movies and can't seem to stick to a cohesive narrative. It's not terrible or anything, I just think there was a lot of potential that didn't pay off.

Rhetorical Thrill

Ahh hell yeah !!! I have been waiting for this 🙌🙌🤍 Day 55: of suggesting (my girl 1991)

Emilie Fredriksen

I think that's an oversimplification in the extreme. I'm sure some people did write it off for those reasons, but this movie has a lot of problems from a filmmaking standpoint. There's nothing wrong with enjoying it but those certainly aren't the only reasons people criticize it.

Rhetorical Thrill

Onward is very underrated. Like this one, I think it stumbles in its execution at times but the story I found more relatable and coherent.

Rhetorical Thrill

i remember people not liking onward and i never understood it, its an underrated gem for sure

Jada

Watching this movie for the second time now… It hits home for a lot of us women and girls who were raised to be “the good little girl.” What parents don’t always realize is that only enforcing the “be a good girl” is not always beneficial to the child, as it really is just conducive to an efficient family life for the parents. I know it very well, and for me, I still have issues with saying no, I constantly apologize for my existence and never take up space, and have a constant feeling of never being good enough. I like how this film enforces breaking the cycle of generational trauma and being more free.

Teej

Articulate as always. So, Oscar, who's the real you?

Jim Schmitz

Aww I'm glad you reacted to this! I appreciated how open you were to it. Honestly I think the world would be a much better place if guys actively tried to understand what women go through, and visa versa.

Maisie

This one is so fun! Great reaction as usual! I thought of a few more movies to watch: Balto 1,2 & 3 (admittedly the first one is the best of this franchise, but I really love the second one as well! third one's just ok) The Last Man on Earth (series) the Last Unicorn :)

Raquel

i'm so glad you reacted to this! this movie really hits home for me, especially the cultural elements

lola

I’ve only seen this movie once when it came out. I can’t wait to watch it again!

Teej

I think "Onward" would resonate more with him than this one. Good call!.

Jim Schmitz

Love Turning Red! I’m a big Pixar fan & would love it if U could also add ONWARD to your watch list! Highly recommend it

MewTwo Medici

How exciting, Aussie..I'm on break at work right..I might watch later..I never see it before. I'm grateful I get to share this experience with you. Best of wishes.

Shané Kummer

the reason you haven't really heard of it, is because it was heavily negatively reviewed by mostly adult men, that didn't like that the movie was about Asian's, or girls.

PumpkinPanic

You need to watch Moana 2 <3

Aleksander Jørgensen

You should react to Wicked💚🩷

Ellie Gidney

Literally never thought you would watch this!! when it first came out I couldn’t stop raving about it to my family… my mom watched it with me and we both shared a cry. amazing film and great characters as well
