For my day job, I make games. On weekends (and nights, when I can manage it), I also make games - this game about dogs in alien airports, to be specific.
To no one's surprise but my own, that means I am often tired.
However, this week, it has had unexpected dividends.
I learned how to do really effective horror.
Allow me to introduce you to Mr. Bucket.

I just finished directing a game called Mr. Bucket Told Me To for the Dread X Collection; an anthology of short-form horror games coming out at the end of April. Mr. Bucket is a sun-kissed first-person survival game about being haunted by the tools you used to stay alive. Tropical horror. Castaway, if Wilson wanted you to die a slow, painful death.
Having the opportunity to explore first-person horror in that project gave me a better understanding of how to pull off the much-anticipated Haunted Horse Plane, and is one of the times where my day job has had a happy intersection with what I need to know to make this absurd dog-centric game even better.
You can hear the soundtrack for the plane above.
The header image is a human heart and a human skull, the latter of which is already in the game.
Sweet dreams.
