DOGVELOPMENT LOG #9: New Build Incoming!!

It's 3:42 AM in El Paso.  We just announced the delay of SkateBIRD to 2021 (I've been the story/narrative director on it!). The world is on fire - and every time I work on this game, I forget that a little bit.

I spent a long time telling myself that I was a person who could be productive even when everything else fell down. If the situation made me unhappy or the conditions were awful, I'd remain: a monolith. It's a little much, but the hyperbole made me feel a bit stronger in the dark. Dog Airport Game is the first time I've considered that I can have something better. 

I can work on a project that brings me actual joy, with people I care about, that are also in a better place because of the game we're building together. After so long embracing the physical and mental consequences of working in game development for a living, I'm still kind of coming to terms with the idea that, maybe, game development can make me happy.

All that foundational work I spoke about earlier in the month paid off. The next build, dropping within the week, is going to feature a second whole-dang functional airport: Phobos, a moon of Mars. You'll be able to fly there with a connection from Beachwell.

Phobos is a podunk - a vast but reasonable regional airport for people to get acclimated to the idea of stock photo dogs running airports, before we throw them into vaporwave beach terminals and planets of dog elves. Fuzzy pillars punctuate the environment as a massive fire hydrant slowly rotates in the sky. You can listen to the track that will accompany your adventures in Phobos above - including interactions with our new ATMs that spit money at you, because you deserve it.

Thanks for your continuing support, y'all. Especially with the way things are right now, it means a lot to know that, somewhere, there's 69 (nice) other people dreaming about a better world where dogs give you free money, because why the hell not.
