Daredevil (season 3) = Finished

Let's talk about hating God for a second.

*SPOILERS*

I think there are very few people of faith who have not been in Daredevil's position. Who did not despise God, or believe he despised them, and vice versa. Who thought about ditching religion entirely to forge a given path - soul be damned.

I've been there.
Daredevil was there.

And then...suddenly, he isn't.

After a few episodes of bold statements railing against God himself, the almighty plot kicks in, and these religious concerns take a hard backseat to the rise of Bullseye and the return of Wilson Fisk.

If this thread was simply set aside - perhaps relegated to Daredevil's subconscious, but visible in his actions going forward with some resolution to come, I think it might work. If Matt Murdock had to take a break from punching people in the face to reckon with new developments, and the effect on his faith? That would also make sense.

Neither of these things happen. Instead, after a certain point, the religious struggles of Matt Murdock aren't voiced by the character. They're voiced by people around him, as he goes about more important business. At the end of the season, as everyone else gets their resolutions and cliffhangers for the next storyline, one of Matt's final whistle stops is returning to the church and voicing a complete reversal of his opinions. He's cool with God, now. Apparently. Suddenly.

I'm not demanding that religion should be a focus of the series, or even an element (despite a basis in the comics). However, once it was established as a supposedly principal, driving factor of the story, discarding what is such a fundamental human struggle for a person of faith as soon as Daredevil is called into action isn't just unrealistic - it's a disservice.

If a struggle with God himself is important enough to start a season with, and hammer in through three episodes of personal pain, isn't it important enough to reckon with the consequences throughout as well?
